Cura Orphanage

Since 2006, our team has been committed to raising 50-orphaned children. The housemothers do the hard work, caring for the daily needs of their charges in their homes: preparing meals, encouraging studies, overseeing chores, and dispensing hugs and laughter. Our Home Manager and local Board of Governors ensure that the building is maintained, reports are filed, and bills are paid.

Your support of Cura Orphanage will contribute to these and other required operational costs that continue to make it possible for our children to have a real home.

Youth Education

We are proud that all of our children have attended Cura Primary School, and many have gone on to attend the Cura Secondary School that donors like you helped us build in 2012. Donations have also supported popular co-curricular programs like athletics and the arts, as well as a well-stocked library and computer lab that offer our Cura students a rich educational experience. Some of our high school students have achieved marks that earned them places in other regional day-and boarding schools. We ensure that the cost of tuition and materials is not a barrier to their attendance. As our students prepare to exit high school into a very tough job market, we work with them on plans and life-skills for their post-secondary lives, and we support their educational and living expenses for one year post-graduation.

Your contributions help support all of these facets of our children's education.

Community Health

Clinic provides local, low-cost, basic health care for the entire Cura community. All of our children get their vaccines and treatments from our onsite Clinic team which includes a full time nurse, lab technologist, and office manager. These women provide essential services to local families who also seek out vaccinations, basic testing, pre-natal care and much more. In an effort to better serve the community, the Clinic developed a small dispensary for the sale of over-the-counter items, and hosted occasional educational events on subjects like nutrition and sanitation.

Though the Clinic is financially self-sustaining for its ongoing needs, your donations will help us expand services and purchase much-needed equipment that will increase its positive impact in Cura.

Austin's Kitchen Garden

In 2015, a generous donor launched a campaign to honor the memory of her son Austin, to fund essential farming infrastructure on the plot of land adjacent to our Home. With water tanks, a drip-irrigation system, equipment and seedlings, Austin's Kitchen Garden was born! Produce from this garden provides healthy, organically grown fruits and vegetables to supplement our children's meals, and our mothers sell extra produce at the market to supplement the Home's budget.

Your contributions to this project will help our team fence the plot and turn the garden into a teaching facility for Cura Secondary School students and local families.
